Canon gave customers the shaft and raised prices by ~3 to 5%. Then they gave us rebates, so prices were sort of back to where they where. And later in 2008 and 2009 US prices were lowered, so in hindsight, Canon’s price hike was temporary, but it still stunk...

Not much to add here in terms of the blog. The Canon 200mm F2.8 L Mark II and Contax 18mm F4 Distagon reviews were added; the images in those reviews were taken with the Canon 1Ds Mark III.

If there is one place where the Canon 1Ds Mark III surpasses the 1Ds Mark II - it is color. The 1Ds Mark III files can really be pushed hard in Photoshop with great results. Also, Canon’s new Color Style Editor application is a very handy utility that goes unnoticed.

Some more follow up on the “Vibrance Factor”. If there is one thing I like about Canon’s new Digic engine, it is the color. Landscapes can have some really nice pop in their yellows and highlights.
