ABOUT PEBBLE PLACE
Updated February 18, 2017
Photography has been my hobby for over 30 years. In the 80s and 90s I took vacation snapshots with an old Canon AT-1 SLR, a 50mm F1.8 FD and Kalimar 70-200mm zoom. Like most people I just took some occasional pictures on vacations and random snap-shots from time to time. In 2001 I bought a Sony 1.3MP digicam and found the instant feedback was addictive. Photography quickly escalated and evolved into a very expensive hobby.
Eventually I bought a refurbished Canon 1Ds in 2005. From 2005 through 2007 there was an endless stream of Contax and Leica lenses, digital rangefinders and digital medium format gear. By 2008 I thought things were settling down, but the next five years brought the Canon 1Ds Mark III, Leica M9, Leica M9-P, Leica S2, Phase One P30+ and P65+ Digital Backs and an endless line of lenses.
There have been some good decisions and plenty of bad decisions along the way - all were expensive. The writings on PebblePlace.com are mostly my learnings as I muddle through the gear. Much of what is presented on PebblePlace.com is for entertainment purposes - this is just a hobby after all. I hope you find PebblePlace.com both helpful and entertaining in your gear quest.
